Code of HammurabiThe Code of Hammurabi was created by Hammurabi while he was the ruler of the Babylonian Dynasty. The 282 laws include punishments along the lines of "an eye for an eye". Hammurabi created these laws in 1754 BC and wrote the laws on a stone slab. The Code of Hammurabi is the longest surviving text from this time. Below are some examples of laws that were covered in the Code of Hammurabi. (Examples are taken from reference 4) If you are interested in learning more about all of the 282 laws or about how Hammurabi went about making the codes, check out the further reading section where I included numerous resources.
